Menace Canines
More Than Training
About Us
Menace Canines is a small service dog training business dedicated to making training more accessible and affordable for owner-trainers. Created to support individuals who are training their own service dogs, Menace Canines provides guidance, education, and practical training support throughout the process.
Menace Canines focuses on helping teams build strong foundations through clear communication, structured training, and practical skills that translate into real-world situations. Training is designed to support both the dog and the owner, with a focus on accessibility, affordability, and building a strong working partnership.
Services include support for service dog development, foundational obedience, task training, public access preparation, and problem-solving common challenges that arise during owner training. Menace Canines also works with some reactive dogs, helping owners better understand their dog’s behavior while building confidence, improving engagement, and navigating challenging environments more successfully.
The goal is not only to help dogs succeed in their roles but also to equip owners with the knowledge and skills needed to continue training and advocating for their dogs independently.
To make training more accessible, Menace Canines offers a sliding-scale pricing structure whenever possible. Sessions are available both online and in person throughout most of Massachusetts, with travel to other states considered on a case-by-case basis.
Reviews
Kit & Hopi (service dog team)
I'm so relieved and glad to have Ashton as a trainer. They have been so very helpful in Hopi and mine's progress as a potential service dog team. They are a wonderful, knowledgeable, supportive trainer whom I wouldn't have had the pleasure of working with had he not offered to train online (we're on opposite coasts). If I ever had an issue arise in training Hopi on a random day, they would be sure to get back to me soon with solutions. Ashton is understanding of my chronic illness issues, so that eases a lot of anxiety as well.
They are personable and really cares about the dog, the person and the team. Much so that I really feel like someone's got my back regarding helping in training my young dog (I’ve had a few other trainers before, two of them, I felt like a number, and the other, I didn't feel respected as a person). Ashton doesn't overcharge either, the prices are fantastically fair, so I can afford these invaluable lessons without having to make the choice between, lesson, food, or rent.
Heather & Honey Bunny (Reactive dog)
Ashton agreed to work with us after two other established trainers had either declined to work with our dog or failed to make any behavioral progress. In a nutshell, we have a very small dog with very big feelings. Ashton has worked with us in our home and neighborhood to make our dog feel less anxious. We have seen tremendous positive behavioral changes already and look forward to continuing our dog's training with Ashton.
Oj & Dakoda (Service Dog Team)
Dakoda has come a long way, and I’m excited to keep going. I’ve seen real progress, and I feel so much more confident, too. Ashton is supportive, encouraging, and clearly loves what they do. I’d absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a trainer who truly cares and gets results.
